Take your mind for a walk.

There is a well taught method of creation roughly referred to as taking a pencil for a walk or taking a line for a walk. You close your eyes and allow your pencil to move across the surface, creating unintentional lines.

On the work below (unfinished) I took my mind for a walk. You create texture shape pattern colour prompted by the previous mark making. Each brushstroke, colour choice etc informs the next. I chose the first thought each time, not dwelling or deliberating and staying true to this notion....as is mentally and emotionally possible. One action stimulates a response. This work has now reached a point where I can stand back and consider what happened and what is next.
